Kinected blog regular, social media showrunner and all-round marketing extraordinaire, this week’s Team Spotlight shines on our Marketing Coordinator, Kathleen McCarthy. In her time here, Kathleen has spearheaded bold and innovative marketing initiatives, launching the SpaKinect Podcast, InteliKINECT Newsletter and much more. Bringing with her a fluent understanding of modern and old-school techniques, along with a certain j’e ne c’est quoi in her projects, Kathleen has quickly integrated herself as a key member of the Kinect Corp team.
Briefly describe what you do all day.
Honestly? If it’s marketing, I’m probably doing it. I handle our marketing campaigns, social, email blasts and specialized projects for some of our clients. My newest project is the SpaKinect podcast: check it out here!
What’s the best thing about your job?
So many things. I love testing out different marketing strategies and figuring out what works well and what doesn’t. I want to learn how we can do better in certain market segments, and I want to see which posts resonate with which demographics. But, it goes even deeper. Some of my most crucial learning experiences have come from experimenting with things as “trivial” as posting times, dates and content layout.
What’s been one of your proudest moments working at InteliKINECT?
Getting the InteliKINECT SERP on Google. When I first joined, whenever you would google intelikinect you would see an alert saying “Did you mean inteliconnect?” That was one of my goals when I joined. I wanted to fix that. The day it happened felt like the day I took my first big step forward as a marketer.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
Just like Paulina and Joanna, I teach dance. There’s just a lot of dancing.
Fill in the blank: I once met…
Former Patriots tight-end Gronk! I was at his retirement party. You don’t realize it watching football players on TV, but in person, he was a very large person.
What’s the song that best describes your personality?
Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen.
I love Queen. A lot. Plus it’s a very energetic song.
What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession?
“You never know” – there are so many different possibilities in this world. It’s self-defeating to be consumed by “what might happen”. There are just so many possibilities and opportunities waiting for you to discover them. If you’re second guessing yourself, why not just try?
